We challenge the habit of treating holidays like empty traditions and share a short poem that pushes us to teach kids what these days truly mean. We talk about why parents should lead this learning at home so our children understand American history, identity, and the purpose behind what we celebrate.
• breaking the cycle of not understanding what holidays represent
• why kids deserve the meaning behind each celebration
• using a simple plan because holidays repeat yearly
• the risk of letting the world define the story for our children
• examples like Memorial Day and the Fourth of July as teaching moments
• doing quick research at home with a laptop or pen and paper
• why holiday education belongs in the household, not just school
• how meaning centered traditions help kids discern and stay positive

Breaking The Holiday Meaning Cycle

SPEAKER_00

Hey ladies, welcome to the Mom to Mentor podcast. Hey, I wanna know, can we break the cycle of not fully understanding what holidays represent? And can we start today? Great! I can help you with that. I found a poem I wrote which sums up the need for why we need to educate our children about the importance of teaching the holidays. Because if we don't teach our children the meaning behind them, they'll be convinced it's only about food, fun, and another every family day.

A Poem On Teaching Holidays

SPEAKER_00

Alright, so today I share a brief poem to explain why educating on holidays are important. You and your children deserve to know exactly what holidays are and where they come from. So here we go. In the United States, we have 11 holidays we acknowledge each year. And unfortunately, most of the time, it's not sincere. So, mom, when it comes to educating holiday celebrations, what is your hesitation? There should never be any doubt what a holiday celebration is all about. Just like the days of the week, holidays also repeat. Holidays are annual events, so you need to have a plan. How you and your family will represent. We must own educating these historic milestones. If we don't teach the truth our children need, the world will plan its own and they'll follow that seed. Whether it's Memorial Day or the 4th of July, it's up to us to explain to our children why.

Research Tools For Moms At Home

SPEAKER_00

Moms, grab your laptop or paper and pen. Now let the research begin. Celebrating holidays are more than family affairs. They were developed by our ancestors to remind us to care. So come on, mom. Don't leave this type of education up to the school. Teaching your child about holidays should be a household golden bowl. Remember, American history shouldn't be a mystery. Your kids will be thankful you took the initiative, and this will help them stay positive. You should feel ashamed if you think holidays are only about food, fun, and games. They're entitled to understand what it is to be an American. Take this time and learn. So both you and your child know how to discern. But now you are educated and can share everywhere. Alright, ladies, there you have it.

Holidays Shape Identity And Belonging

SPEAKER_00

Now, holidays shape our identity. So make sure your child knows the meaning behind the moment you celebrate. I would love to hear from you. Let me know your thoughts about this poem and this episode. Leave me some feedback on the single momsunited podcast.com. Well, I would love to hear from you. And if you educated your child prior to this, maybe you've already done this. And I'd love to know how you did it, what you said, so we can pass it along to other listeners and so they can adopt it as they are educating their child or their children. Again, don't forget to share with another mom or another parent. Have a great day.
